Click here to view the embedded video.

If you’d like to understand more about life coaching, we explain the basics here. If you’re ready to apply, you can use this convenient online form or, if you prefer, you can download the application as a PDF file, print it, complete it, and submit it via mail or email. Your privacy is important to us and information is kept confidential. If you’re still undecided about whether life coaching can make a difference in your life, you can request a 30-minute sample session by completing this quick form. We’ll contact you to schedule your session upon receipt of your application. You can receive coaching in person, on the phone or via Skype anywhere in the United States!

Right now, you can take advantage of a special offer! If your application for coaching is accepted and you commit to six sessions, you’ll be eligible for the discounted rate of just $40 per session.* That’s a 33% savings from our 2011 rate. We’ll even sweeten the offer if you refer a friend who also signs up for six sessions by giving you an extra three sessions at the discounted rate! This offer is available through March 1, so we encourage you to act now for significant savings.

We’d truly appreciate your help in spreading the word about this ministry. If you know someone you think would be interested in keeping updated on new offers, resources, and articles, please pass this along to them! If you haven’t already “Liked” our Facebook page, that’s a great way to be sure you never miss a thing! You can do that here.

Blessings Abundant!

We’ve grown sufficiently in the last year to enable us to invest in making this website a more effective part of the ministry, praise God! Our webmaster, Brian Layman, has been invaluable in developing Perissos Resources’ online presence and we offer our heartfelt thanks for this efforts and expertise!

In addition to bringing Christian Life Coaching to the forefront of the ministry, we’ve expanded our Resource center to include more articles and new categories. Our Life Coaching section features articles on family life and productivity with more coming soon in our other areas of specialty (including transition management and relationship enhancement). The Discipleship section clearly explains the gospel of Jesus Christ and invites you to explore and deepen your understanding of the Word of God. In Apologetics, we delve more deeply into issues of defending the faith and illuminating some more complex scriptures and theological ideas. There are articles in our Responsible Living section that call you to a new level of excellence by making good choices based on sound biblical principles you can apply in your daily life. Our Health & Wellness section features an easy-to-apply article on achieving optimal health, though we have much more in store for you there! And, we’re thrilled to bring you a new area of the website called Portraits of God, which tells the personal stories of extraordinary people, through whose lives we can see God reflected in a moving and memorable way. I encourage you to visit this area and meet Bert Baker and Nick Peters. And, if you’d like to discuss our site content, you can join us on our forum, hosted by our great friends at Theologyweb.com.

Another new feature is our Shop, where you can buy the overstock of some of the resources we use in our Life Coaching and Learning Experience ministry. If you’re a client, this is a great place to get any resources we may have assigned to you since we often offer them at or below retail pricing. If you’re not a client, you’re still welcome to browse and shop here for some excellent books and assessments.

The new website also features an event calendar, where you can find details of where I will be teaching or making an appearance. Our Learning Experiences section describes the seminars and courses I personally teach or facilitate and can bring to your church, small group, or community if you are located in the Southeast USA.

Perissos Resources is now accepting submissions for contributions to our growing resource library. If you have written something you believe would fit well with our mission and vision, or if you’d like to write for us on assignment, please email Lynn Erhorn for more information. If you would like to send your work for consideration, it must be submitted as a Microsoft Word or Google Doc file.

Your tax-deductible donations are vitally important to our growth and continued effectiveness in ministry. We’re extremely grateful for the generous giving that allowed us to expand our borders and reach a broader audience by improving our website. If we are to keep up this level of excellence, we’ll need your help! It took a significant investment of time and funds to bring this website to it’s current level of professional appearance and functionality. So, we are asking you to please prayerfully consider a gift of any amount. For those who are interested in making a donation of $100 or more to this ministry to help keep it running in 2011, we also offer a gift package in our shop as our way of saying thank you!

Finally, if you haven’t yet signed up for our email newsletter or liked our Facebook page, please do that now so you’ll never miss a new article, resource, event, or news item! If you enjoy your visit, please spread the word! Suggest us to your friends and family and visit regularly for great new content. Thank you, most sincerely, for your interest in Perissos Resources, and may God bless you abundantly!

Recap of 2009 and looking forward to exciting new things in 2010!

Before I introduce you to the exciting things in store for Perissos Resources in 2010, I want to take moment to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for those who have offered their support and encouragement to this ministry during its first full year. Your donation dollars, volunteer hours, and words of affirmation have paved the way for growth, increased impact, and continued enthusiasm for our mission and vision! THANK YOU!

In 2009, we published our first program catalog, I went through intensive training with Focus on the Family’s “The Truth Project,” and Reclaiming The Mind’s “The Theology Program,” and the website and email newsletter were designed and launched. In the last quarter, God placed it on my heart to include a new aspect to our mission. With our country’s economy in its current condition, unemployment at such a high level, and so many without health care insurance, I began to see a real need in the lives of those who were receiving coaching through this ministry. I recommended books and classes to many who turned to me in 2009, only to find they were unable to afford those resources. I referred a number of clients to both local and national health resources only to hear it reported that they could not afford to go to the doctor or pay for prescription medication. I asked God many times in prayer how a resource ministry could glorify Him and accomplish His purposes on earth if none of the people I was reaching could take advantage of those resources! And, faithfully as always, God illuminated the path that would lead us to a solution.

As this year drew to a close and we reviewed the budget and began to plan for 2010, we found that through your kind donations we were able to stock our shelves with a small inventory of key resources (books, DVDs, and other tangible resources) to have at the ready. Our plan for 2010 is to place the resources in the hands of those who stand ready to benefit from them regardless of their ability to purchase them. We have begun to research and connect with free health clinics and other health care resources across the country to build a strong referral network for those without insurance or with low income. Our classes and seminars will include scholarships for those who have clearly demonstrated their readiness to take the next step in their journey toward responsible living with only financial hardship in their way. All of this will be possible only through your continued support in the form of donations.

Have you benefited from one of Perissos Resources seminars, classes, or life coaching services? Do you have a family member who has shown personal growth, improvement, or outright transformation as a result of our ministry? Do you have a heart for someone with financial hardship, unemployment, or no health insurance who is looking for a way to equip themselves for the coming year? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then I would urge you to take a couple of steps and join us as we grow in 2010. First, sign up for our email newsletter using the short form in the left sidebar. You’ll receive periodic updates when new programs are announced and we will never make your information available to third parties. Next, use the “donate” button to help us build our resource inventory and scholarship & benevolence funds so we’re ready to meet as many needs as possible. If you’d like to know more about how we determine how those funds are distributed, please feel free to contact me at any time with your questions. Just visit the Contact page using the menu button at the top of this page for several ways to do that. Thirdly, if you keep track of your favorite websites, blogs, or other online content using an RSS feed, there is one for this ministry at the bottom of the right column. Or, you can also follow us on Facebook so you won’t miss any of our announcements. I’ll be bringing your video devotionals and brief words of encouragement and scripture study via this blog as well, so don’t miss out!

If you are someone who needs any of the resources and services we offer, or if you’d like to bring one of our programs to your small group, church, or business, just email me with your details and I’ll be happy to get back to you quickly.

Happy New Year !

In the first four months of 2009, I have completed training for two excellent programs that will be ready to run in Jacksonville this fall. Focus on the Family’s astoundingly high-quality and deeply thought-provoking DVD study, “The Truth Project,” will be available to groups of 12 or so beginning this September. You can click on the link above and view the promotional video for the program, then decide whether you’d like to host a group through Perissos. We’re asking for a donation of $15 per participant for this 12-week program, which will include the DVD training, small group discussion facilitated by me and a wealth of password-protected online information. This program is designed to be shared in an intimate setting, preferably a home with adequate seating for the group to view the DVD portion on a large screen tv. I can offer this in my own home or a small conference room at a local hotel. If you wish to host a group and need the space, just let me know!

I’ve also completed the “Introduction to Theology,” course from Reclaiming the Mind ministries, the first of six 10-week courses that make up “The Theology Program,” a seminary-level certificate program in systematic theology that is unlike anything else! A true, deep discipleship program, The Theology Program strives to make sound theological training accessible to everyone — and they do an outstanding job. The introductory course is excellent as a stand-alone study and a great one to take in order to determine whether you desire to continue to take the entire program. Due to the intense nature of this program and the importance of remaining commited for the entire 10 weeks, we’re asking for a donation of $150 per student for this course, which includes two excellent text books you will be thrilled to have in your personal library.

In other news, Perissos has elected to include some additional services to the scope of the ministry in order to help build up the revenue to realize its vision. We now provide limited business services to other ministries, churches, and businesses whose work is consistent with our mission and vision. This includes administrative services, event planning, some web design, and promotions among other things. If you are interested in more information about this aspect of the ministry, please contact me at perissosresources@gmail.com.

We are still very much in need of funds so that we can purchase additional course materials and, ultimately, secure a permanent location for our programs. If you have been blessed by this ministry or are interested in supporting us as we take our initial steps toward the realization of our God-given vision, please prayerfully consider using the convenient “Donate” button on our home page here. If you would like to become a regular monthly supporter, please know that as little as $25 per month would make an enormous difference to us! All donations are tax-deductible and donors will receive a year-end statement for tax filing purposes. Our current goal is to reach an additional $500 per month in regular monthly donations by September 2009. We believe it is a modest goal and you can help make it happen!

We are extremely excited about the things we have shared with you today as well as some other developing projects that are on our drawing board right now. We hope you will partner with us to glorify God in Jacksonville by helping us reach our maximum potential.

We had a very productive board of directors meeting last night. It was announced that we are officially incorporated and have all of our documentation in place to do business ethically and appropriately. But, there is much work ahead.

The Spring/Summer 2009 program catalog was finalized. It was trimmed to only the programs that are 100% ready to deliver right now, though there are several other exciting additions in the hopper for the Fall semester. Our “Services” page has more information about both current and upcoming programs.

The big task ahead of us now is fund raising. It was determined that we will require about $20,000 to really get Perissos Resources operating optimally in 2009, so that is our goal. In addition, we are still praying for donated commercial space so we can have a physical home. That will allow us to make so many more resources available in a much more efficient and accessible way, as well as allow us to publish a schedule for classes we want to offer rather than wait for an organization or church to request us and bring us in house.

There was exciting news found in a devotional magazine I received the other day regarding a special window of opportunity for those who are 70 and 1/2 years of age or older with an IRA. For the calendar year 2009 only, it will be possible to distribute funds directly to a charitable organization like Perissos Resources without having to pay taxes on the distribution! We are prayerful that this will help some prospective donors consider us when they are making their decisions for good stewardship of their IRA funds.

With a bit of hesitation, I am sending out my one and only “email blast” from my personal address book, asking everyone I know to come to this website and either sign up for the newsletter or consider sowing a seed to get the ministry off the ground. We currently have an bank account that doesn’t have nearly enough to sustain us and this is a delicate and critical time for the ministry. So, I’ve partnered with an outstanding email newsletter management website called “Mail Chimp,” that will track and manage our quarterly newsletters and campaigns. But, in order to be on the list, it is their requirement that people voluntarily opt to be on it by filling out the form on the home page. I agree whole-heartedly with this level of integrity and will not engage in spamming, list buying or selling, or otherwise harrassing people electronically. However, as a way to get the word out initially, I will send out a message inviting people to consider making their choice.

We’ve set up a page on Facebook for the ministry and are also in the process of setting it up as an official “cause” there as another fund-raising option, though there are still a few steps to complete for that page to be ready to receive donations.

I’m currently considering space to offer a “Supporting Boundaries” small support group for those who have already been through a boundaries course and wish to brush up their skills in a safe and supportive environmnent. That will likely be the first official Perissos Resources event. I’m looking forward to that!

As of February 3, 2009, Perissos Resources is officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with The Missionary Church International as its parent church, providing this status by making us an affiliate. We have submitted our articles of incorporation to the State of Florida, finalized our bylaws, and held our first board of directors meeting! We are working on the website, which currently includes a way for visitors to sign up for our email updates as well as make donations to the organization.

Our Spring 2009 catalog is nearly finished and will be published here on the website as well as distributed locally within the next month. We’re very excited about the course offerings we have right out of the gates. I am currently studying online with Reclaiming The Mind ministry, going through their “The Theology Program,” as a certificate student with the goal of becoming a local facilitator for these seminary-quality theology courses that are extremely affordable (in some cases, FREE!) and very accessible for those who have a hunger to seriously study what they believe and why they believe it.

In the near future, we’ll be holding a major fund-raiser that is just in the early stages of planning, and continue to look for a physical home for our classes so we don’t have to search for space whenever we want to offer a program.

This is the 1-year point from the time this ministry was birthed in prayer and I am awestruck at how God has been faithful to His promises to me back in January of 2008! I remain unconcerned about the current economic situation in our country or the ability of this ministry to flourish, steadfast in my belief that this is God’s work, in God’s timing, God’s way! He has placed some truly extraordinary people and resources in my path and I am thrilled at the positive response I have received to the vision and mission of this ministry so far. I hope that positive spirit proves infectious as we move forward and approach local churches, businesses, and individuals for support.

On November 8, I offered the last of 2008′s all-day “Boundaries Basics,” seminars at New Life Christian Fellowship. We had another small group – 4 ladies this time – and it was a wonderful time full of revelation and affirmation for us all. I am encouraged by another round of overwhelmingly positive exit surveys and by the brightness in the eyes of the students as they complete the day’s learning eager to bring their new skills to their lives. There was also a lot of interest in the “Supporting Boundaries,” follow-up course I’m offering those who have already been through preliminary training. Over the holidays, I’m hoping to survey 2008′s students for their progress with Boundaries in their lives and about their availability in 2009. Then, I’ll put “Supporting Boundaries” on the schedule.

My attention this week has been divided between the many last minute details for Saturday’s ordination ceremony (and milestone birthday party) and my mother-in-law’s sudden hospitalization and subsequent surgery to correct a 90% blockage in her right carotid artery. She came through with flying colors, but the week has inlcuded a lot of hospital visits and hand-holding while trying to make sure no details for the event fall through the cracks. Today was the day I decided to let go of some things I know simply won’t happen and just get peaceful about that! We opted for catering over cooking just last night, and that is a huge load off of my mind! My thanks already go out to my volunteer “staff” for the event, my family, my musicians, my prophetic dancer, and my officiants. Their support and reassurance is the foundation I’m held up on this week!

My focus is now coming back to the Lord and the reverence I have for what we will be accomplishing on Saturday with the ordination ceremony. I have never been so much interested in the title or position that comes with such a ceremony as I am the equipping to continue in obedience to God’s calling on my life. Tonight, I’ll finalize the statement I’ll make after the ceremony and re-read the ceremony itself for the umpteenth time, so I don’t miss the heart of what I’m being assigned to in the nervousness of the moment. God has been so good about providing affirmation that this is the appropriate step for this moment, and making a way in spite of circumstances that might seek to trip me up. Praise Him!

Perissos Resources will be formally and officially launched Saturday. A bulletin has been prepared for guests that describes the ministry and includes most of the information also available here at perissosonline.org. I have the mounting feeling that things are about to take off at the speed of light! Ready or not, here we go!

I also want to mention this week’s lunch with Ginger Soud and Joyce Shelton. Ginger was introduced to me in an email from Jeannette Giotto of Catholic Charities as someone I should meet. She is the Jacksonville Chairperson for an enormous event called “Just Give Me Jesus,” coming to Jacksonville in April 2009. Joyce and I have expressed interest in using our gifts to support this event and are both looking forward to the exciting things now in store there. There will be more blogging on that as it unfolds.

We had only 2 registrants for October, so I have asked them to join us for the November 8 session. We have 2 others registered for that and I expect more, so we should have a nice group again. I’m looking forward to it.

Dr. Joyce and I have done some good work on her web site and most of the staff have faithfully provided their bios. I’m grateful for the opportunity to bless Joyce in this way and am humbled that God would bring our lives together so that both would be enhanced to His glory. What an honor!

I am redoubling my efforts to complete all of the assignments for The Missionary Church International so I can receive my nonprofit status and begin to minister full time. There is so much to do to launch the business, it is almost overwhelming, but I know God will keep me on track. Next up is the required ordination ceremony, which I am combining with a 50th birthday celebration! The Sheltons will co-officiate the ceremony, I am hoping to have a couple of worship songs to bracket, and we are doing the food church style: several people will bring dishes. Ginger Brown has graciously arranged to provide a lovely space at the PBS broadcasting station where she is employed. E-vites have gone out and responses are being collected now. I’m hoping for about 50 attendees, though I suspect the group will be a bit more intimate. It is surely going to be a very special day!

We had a great day last Saturday (September 23). It was a small group: six students. I was expecting five, but there was a late registrant the evening before the seminar. Happily, I had extra copies of the text and the workbook. Three of the students were a family (father, mother, adult son), one was my sister, and two other women. A very nice mix. We started a little late, but that was budgeted for. It was the first time trying out the timing of the sessions and I am pleased to report that we reached our lunch break at an ideal time and ended an hour ahead of schedule. That leaves room for more discussion in future sessions, so I’m not planning to tweak this at all.

The day is long and I am considering sitting for more of the teaching in the future, but the feedback was overwhelmingly positive and most students said they would suggest the seminar to others and will also consider coming back for “Supporting Boundaries” next year.

“The Five Languages of Apology,” had its first session Tuesday night: orientation and chapter 1. I’ll teach chapter 3 in two weeks. I’m matched with my facilitating partner from last time and it looks like I’ll have a couple of group members we’re already bonded with. Excellent news.

Dr. Joyce and I will get together soon to outline the Apology book for teaching purposes so I can work it into a similar workbook package for Perissos and also for her future use if she wants it. We’re also discussing the book we want to write on forgiveness. Time management is going to be a daily issue.

I’ve asked my domain host to install a CRM package for me to experiment with. Here, we’re looking at open source accounting software. I still need to get back to completing the ordination requirements. That has taken a back seat to seminar preparations.

Finished the Facilitator’s Handbook, the Student Workbook, the sign-in sheet, exit survey, and all printing needed for Saturday morning. We have 5 registrants this time, one of them being my sister, Joanne, who will serve as my assistant. It will be an early and a long day. We’ll arrive to set up at 7:15, begin at 8:00 and finish at 5:00. This is an experiment, as was the 8-week version of Boundaries I taught last April. Funny, the conclusion then was that 8 weeks wasn’t enough time to cover the material and here I am shortening it into a single day! But, I truly believe this format will get the wonderful message of the book into more people in a way they can use it. Weekly meetings on weeknights seems to almost guarantee losing 50% of the students or more by the half way point. That doesn’t benefit anyone.

Tomorrow, I’ll go to the church office to make copies of the student handbook and then head back here to assemble them and review the Facilitator’s handbook…again. And again.

Also put the Boundaries Basics ad up on the Perissossonline home page place-holder.
